A collaboration with choreographer Thierry Lafont, Entre aims to explore the gap between sound and movement, and to blur the boundaries between music and dance. In this project, electronic sounds are controlled via a motion-tracking interface using a Kinect with MaxMsp. Physical movements of the body dynamically transform various parameters of sound to sustain a continually mobile foam-like sound mass. In addition, physical gestures occurring beyond the motion-tracking range behave as an illusionary layer within the musical fabric, further confusing the sound/movement relationship. Diffused at an extremely loud volume, the weight and vibration of sound in the space acts as an agent of internal and external movement for both the performers and audience.
